Mixed reactions greeted the donation of two Land Cruiser Prado jeeps to the outgoing chairman of the Oyo State People’s Democratic Party, Kunmi Mustapha, and the party’s newly elected chairman in the state, Dayo Ogungbenro.
Party advertising secretary Akeem Olatunji confirmed the donation on Monday, noting that it took place at the state seat of government, Agodi, Ibadan.
According to him, the leaders were rewarded for their loyalty.
He posted: “GSM starts again as it donates two Land Cruiser Prado Jeeps to outgoing PDP President in Oyo State Alh Kunmi Mustapha and newly elected PDP President in Oyo State , Hon Dayo Ogungbenro.
âThe two Jeeps were presented to the two beneficiaries by the Chairman of the Governor’s Advisory Council, Senator Hosea Agboola Halleluyah, with the assistance of Otunba Seye Famojuro and the Honorable Babatunde Tijani Double T. Reacting to the donation on social media, some respondents praised the governor, saying the donation would boost politicians’ morale.
One of them, Muritala Abiodun, said: âReally, Alhaji Kunmi Mustapha surprised me with his kind of loyalty and sporting attitude towards the recently concluded congress. Congratulations to both of you.

However, a majority of people polled on Facebook criticized the donation and questioned the source of the money used to buy the jeeps.
For his part, Seyi Olugbodi said: âThis is not an achievement, you did not specify if it was a personal donation or something else? He has serious issues to contend with when it comes to governance and getting it right with aggrieved party members! ”

Further, Oladeji Moshood said, “Just keep spending public money the way you want, the day of accounts is fast approaching.”
Another interviewee, Ariwoola Abiola, called the donation a âmisplaced priorityâ.
