Saudi Arabia authorizes 3 tech companies to develop and operate products for 10 government agencies


Riyadh: Under the high patronage of the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Chairman of the Board of the Digital Government Authority, Eng. Abdullah bin Amer Al-Sawaha, the digital government authority, issued the first set of provisional licenses for digital government activities for three companies: Elm for Information Security, Takamol Business Services and Thiqah, to develop and operate (15 ) existing digital government platforms and products.

The list of platforms and products included “Wasl”, “Naql”, “Shipping”, “Taajeer”, “Washaj” and “Drones” from the company “Elm”. “Ajeer”, “Qiwa”, “Musaned”, in addition to “Donate” from the “Takamol” company, in addition to “Etimad”, “Saber”, “Ehkam”, “Al-Muwathaq” and “Sedr” from “Thiqah” Company.

These platforms and products are affiliated with (10) government agencies, which are; Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, Ministry of Justice, General Food and Drug Authority, Public Transport Authority, Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Authority, the General Authority for State Properties, the National Center for Government Resource Systems, the National Center for Nonprofit Sector Development, and the Saudi Federation for Cybersecurity, Programming, and Drones.

The number of transactions conducted through these platforms and products exceeds 53 million per year, as these transactions have helped to improve the access of individual beneficiaries and the corporate sector to services.

The Governor of the Digital Government Authority, Eng. Ahmed bin Muhammad Al-Suwayan, said that the granting of these licenses helps to achieve the objectives of the authority and to discharge its functions, since these provisional licenses are one of the results of the initiative ” Experimental Regulatory Environment for Digital Government Enterprises” launched by the authority in November 2021, through which the authority seeks to increase the efficiency and quality of digital platforms, ensure business continuity, regulate property rights of platforms and government digital products, to govern the data sharing mechanism and the prices of the services provided in such a way that contributes to improving the investment environment to support entrepreneurs, to strengthen the partnership between the public and private sectors and to accelerate the growth of the digital economy to achieve the strategic directions of digital government and the objectives of the Saudi Visi on 2030.

The Digital Government Authority praised the cooperation of all government agencies with which the licensed products are affiliated, explaining that these efforts are the result of joint work with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and the Communications Commission and information technology.

The Digital Government Authority is the competent authority for everything related to digital government and the national reference in its affairs, in addition to its competence to issue measures, indicators, tools and reports to measure performance and the capacities of government agencies on the ground. of digital administration and beneficiary satisfaction, as the authority has undertaken several initiatives that contribute to increasing the efficiency of the administration’s performance and providing highly efficient digital services.
