KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): Residents of the southeastern province of Khost complain that telecommunications services are suspended every night in the districts, calling for an early end to their inconvenience.
Kabir Khan, a resident of Ismaelkhel and Mandozi District, told Pajhwok Afghan News that telecommunications services were suspended from evening to morning.
In addition to common people, government and private sector workers also complain about the problem.
Khalil Jan Gurbaz, from Gurbaz district, said telecommunications services had not been available for six days, hampering their work.
Telecommunications and Information Technology Director Mohammad Arif Ahmadzai acknowledged the suspension of telecommunications services in the province in recent days. He shared the problem with the telecommunications companies.
Saeed Shinwari, spokesman for the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Afghanistan (ATRA), confirmed that the companies had suspended their services in the province due to security threats.
He said ATRA was working to resolve issues faced by telecom companies. He promised that the situation would return to normal soon.
According to Shinwari, militants have torched or damaged at least 51 telecommunications towers in different provinces of the country in the past four months.
However, the Taliban have yet to say anything in this regard.
