The DoT integrates audio conferencing, audiotex or voicemail services in the unified license

NEW DELHI The telecommunications department said on Thursday that no separate license would be required to offer audio conferencing, audiotex or voicemail services, as they will be part of a unified license from 2022.

The decision was taken following recommendations from the sector regulator Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).

“After reviewing the TRAI recommendations on the” Licensing Framework for Audio / Audiotex / Voicemail Conferencing Services “, the DoT decided to integrate this license into the Unified License (UL) by adding a new chapter for this authorization, ”the department said. in a notice.

“The license fees of new licensees and existing licensees will be 8% AGR, which is comparable to that of other UL licensees,” he added.

The change is part of the series of political reforms initiated in the telecommunications sector. Currently, stand-alone licenses for VMS / Audiotex / UMS are issued by the ministry in accordance with existing guidelines dating back to 2001.

“No new stand-alone licenses or their renewals will be issued for VMS / Audiotex / UMS licenses compared to the DOT guidelines published on 07/16/2001,” he added.

According to the revised policy guidelines, the audio conferencing unit can be connected to both PSTN / Mobile and IP network in accordance with TEC standards, and the outgoing call function will be allowed even if you use the resources of more than an access service provider subject to license conditions.

“Point-to-point conferences have been authorized to provide services to companies registered in India,” he noted.

In addition, the service area for the Unified Licensed License is moved from the Circle or District level to the National level, however, it will remain SDCA for a stand-alone license of Voicemail or Audiotex services.
